Canada

Overview

Alberta, Canada’s energy powerhouse, is pioneering green energy transitions, targeting 30% renewable electricity by 2030. Supported by Alberta’s power sector, research at the Advanced Control and Diagnosis Lab (ACDL) and Energy Digitization Lab (ENTAIL) in the Faculty of Engineering at University of Alberta focus on applying data-centric and AI techniques to industrial analytics, health monitoring, and system integration.

These efforts will establish Alberta as a leader in sustainable energy, where advanced AI models and simulations ensure efficient and resilient green energy adoption.

Objectives

  • Develop AI-driven methods for reliable fault detection and predictive maintenance.
  • Model power quality impacts of Distributed Energy Resources (DER).
  • Design a Digital Twin framework for real-time monitoring of equipment and processes.
